Gaia Gardens, a certified organic urban farm in
Santa Fe, New Mexico, was told by city officials to stop using
volunteers, having interns and hosting school groups because the
3.75-acre farm is located in a residential neighborhood and the farm's
activities do not fit within existing city codes.
This is the beginning of a journey of requesting the city to create an urban farm ordinance, engaging the support of the neighborhood and paving the way for a sustainable Santa Fe. To be continued ...
