Changing the Mindset - Moving Towards the New Zeitgeist

Moving - Driving From an Era of World Problems to an Era of Solutions by Peter Wlattek

We are in an era characterized by severe world problems. Scientists and economists all over the world are warning us about the dangers of continuing on our current destructive path. Our generation is living in a world that is in a worse condition than ever before where the environment is deteriorating at an alarming rate and the world is facing severe economic problems, food shortages and increased starvation rates.

No single person can any longer stand aside from these problems, no one is safe from the deterioration of the planet and of world recession and its consequences. Simply put, today everyone is facing the same problems and today everyone can be part of the solution to these problems. What it comes down to is the fact that we have built our lives around a dependency on oil. The problem is that oil, being a natural resource, is insufficient and heading towards its limits. The world revolves around oil supply, yet this supply does not meet the high demand for oil around the world.

The reason for the high demand for oil is in most part attributed to cars. Cars are one of the largest consumers of oil in the world and this consumption of oil is creating major problems in the world. The pollution caused by car emissions is dangerous for our planet, the high demand for oil is increasing the price of oil and decreasing its availability, and our standard of living is also going to decrease as a result unless we find a way to develop cars that do not run on oil.

We may invest millions in charity, food aid, environmentally friendly products and so forth, but as long we do not develop an alternative to oil in cars, we will not be addressing the real cause of the majority of our problems. Yet the development of an alternative source to refined oil in the form of fuel for cars can be created. A car that can run a distance of 10,000 km reaching up to 160 km/hour (cruising) without filling, or cars that use solar energy, can be developed. This would be a real step forward into a better future and a step that we all need to take if we want sustainable change that is, if we want a better life for ourselves and our families.
