RECYCLING: Understanding Modern Day Car Salvage Equipment For Car Recycling

By Philip Badeau

It used to be that the only car salvage equipment for car recycling needed was a truck you could use to haul the car off, a mechanic who would remove the wheels and a few other car parts for reuse and then the car was off to a junkyard to be crushed.

It is a lot different now. You really cannot own your own car salvage equipment for car recycling but you also know you should do what you can to salvage the usable parts from your old car instead of just having it end up in a landfill.

You are probably wondering how you can do this. Cars today are not the same as years ago in that they are made so materials can be salvaged easier and kept separate. Car manufacturers try to use a few types of plastic instead of twenty, for example.

The first piece of car salvage equipment for car recycling that is used is the machinery that pulls off and separates all non-metals. Things like the wheels, plastic parts, oil and other liquids and car batteries are the first things taken off.

Then the fuel is drained and the gas is taken out of the air conditioner and the airbag. Whatever can be salvaged from these materials is sent on to a recycling plant. Plastics are torn down, turned into liquid and then put in pellet form so the pellets can be reused for different things including the construction of new cars.

Then the entire vehicle is taken apart and everything that can be reused is saved and the rest is set aside for recycling. Many car parts are reused in older model cars or reformed and used in new cars.

After the car has been broken down and all useful parts salvaged, the crane is the next piece of car salvage equipment for car recycling that is brought in. The crane moves the car to a crusher, another important piece of car salvage equipment for recycling.

The car is crushed repeatedly until it is a small enough piece to satisfy the car salvage company and all the crushed car pieces are kept together in storage. As soon as there is enough, the crushed cars will be shipped to another plant to go through recycling furnace and turned into scrap.

There is a lot more technology involved in modern day car salvage equipment for car recycling. This equipment makes the process faster and more efficient and can do things like safely remove hazardous gasses from cars easily and without damaging the environment.

The benefit of using car salvage equipment for car recycling to remove materials that can be recycled or reused is that it avoid air and water pollution. Also, it means producing less new materials to build cars which means using less energy.

The car salvage equipment for car recycling of today is more technologically advanced than in the past. With this new equipment, as much as 85% of the materials on a car can be recycled and 5% can be used for energy.
