CONSERVATION: Why Bees are Dying Out

Whether you love them or hate them bees are an integral part of how the planet functions. There are actually of 20,000 different species of bees. They are found on almost every continent, except for Antarctica, and of course, they are more plentiful in places that contain insect-pollinated flowering plants.

I believe that every animal and creature has a reason to be on the planet, otherwise they would not exist. The same can be said for bees, they are here to help pollinate the fruit and vegetables and maintain wildlife throughout the planet. If they suddenly went extinct it would be catastrophic to the environment.

That is why scientists, governments and experts are getting worried. In the UK the number of bees has fallen over 15% in the last two years and that is a very worrying figure. So the government has pledged to give around ten million pounds to investigate the reason that this is occurring.

There are a number of possible reasons that this could have occurred ranging from climate change, to a mysterious condition called the colony collapse, which no-one really knows about. It is said to come from possible mites and diseases as well as environmental stress changes.

Personally, I believe this is one of the many effects that global warming and pollution is bringing, this is just the beginning and as things progress they are going to get a lot worse. The environment is changing and although the human race is not feeling the effects yet, it is only a matter of time. As we can already see smaller creatures such as the bee are finding hard to survive in countries where pollution and global warming is at an all time high.

Within the next decade if climate change is not taken seriously and something done to avoid it then we are going to see a huge shift in weather and increases in killer diseases. Technology must develop fast because we need to find ways to promote and heal whatever is happening to the planet, without making it worse then it already is. Global warming is on the rise and something must be done to the stop it, otherwise we can say goodbye to wildlife, plants and many species that live throughout the world.
